Texas men's shorts sewing tutorial
PATTERN DESCRIPTION
Men’s semi-fitted knit shorts with side seam pockets. An ideal choice for men’s summer sports. Attached waistband with elastic and center eyelets, with a drawstring.
Raw hem with a fixed elastic stitch along the bottom edge. Each pattern includes three height options:
• 170 (66 15/16’’) — 176 (69 5/16’’);
• 176 (69 5/16’’) — 182 (71 5/8’’);
• 182 (71 5/8’’) — 188 (74’’).
SUGGESTED MATERIALS
For sewing these shorts, knit fabrics such as two-thread fleece and jersey are suitable.
SEAM ALLOWANCES
• The elastic band is 4 cm (1 9/16’’) wide,
• Grommets — 2 pcs. the length of the elastic band is indicated
• A cord in the waist. in the patterns.
FABRIC REQUIREMENT (CM/IN)
for fabric width 1.80 m (2 yd)
For a height of 170 (66 15/16’’) — 176 (69 5/16’’), you will need 0.70 m (3/4 yd) of fabric forall sizes.
For a height of 182 (71 5/8’’) — 188 (74’’) you will need 0.80 m (7/8 yd) of fabric forall sizes. When buying fabric, keep in mind that the material can shrink, so take 5–10% with a margin.

SEWING INSTRUCTIONS
POCKETS
1. Place the pocket bag and the front of the shorts face to face. Mark the frame along the notches. Topstitch the pocket bag to the front.
2. Notch the allowance on the corners. Topstitch the allowances onto the pocket bag. Press, forming the frame of the pocket entrance.
3. Pin the pocket bags face to face and sew on an overlocker.
4. Place the front pieces face to face and sew along the middle seam on an overlocker. Press the allowances to the side.
5. Pin the back pieces of the shorts face to face. Sew along the middle seam on an overlocker. Press the allowance to the sides.
6. Place the front and back pieces face to face. Pin the inseam, matching the middle seams. Sew on an overlocker. Press the seam allowances to the back of the shorts.
7. Sew the side seams on an overlock. Iron the seam allowances to the back.
WAISTBAND
8. Sew the waistband into a ring. Press the waistband in half.
9. Pin the waistband at the waist, matching the notches. Sew the belt on an overlocker. Press the seam allowances down.
10. Rip open part of the seam in the waistband. Use a safety pin to insert the elastic into the waistband.
11. Make sure that the elastic is not twisted anywhere. Sew the edges of the elastic. Close the opening with blind stitches.
12. Topstitch along the waistband according to the markings on the patterns.
13. Overlock the bottom of the shorts.
14. Press the shorts.
15. Topstitch.
